On September 11th 2001 The World Trade Center was attacked by a terrorist group named Al Qaeda.
This attack killed 2,977 people, and is now considered one of the worst terrorist attacks on America.
There was also an attack planned to hit the Pentagon.
American Airlines flight 77 was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon,
killing all 64 people on the plane and killing 125 people in the Pentagon.
